We leave at 8:00 a.m. from La Fortuna. Once we arrive to Rio Celeste, located at the Tenorio Volcano National Park, we'll begin our 7 km. hike (approximately 4 hours) through the tropical rain forest. We'll arrive to 'Los Teñíderos' of the Rio Celeste, the site where two streams of crystalline water come together and form the heavenly color blue that gives the river its name.
We'll return through trails, rich with ecological wonders, that lead us to the ?OLLAS? -- openings in the earth where we can excavate healing mud, take a mud bath, and a dip in the natural hot springs all while observing the attractions of Tenorio Volcano. We'll continue our hike through the jungle to seek out the volcano?s furnace vents that expel gases of extreme high temperatures. On our decent we will get to see the spectacular Rio Celeste waterfall whose color makes it one of a kind. Our final reward is an exquisite lunch at the end of our journey.

We begin the journey transferring us from La Fortuna around the Arenal Volcano to get to the hotel "Observatory Lodge," there we start the hike toward the summit of Chato Hill through a very dense primary forest. When we arrived up we go to visit the lagoon on the top, where you can swim besides taking photos and discover the surroundings.
Then, we continue descending, always enclosed of a very dense forest, where you could appreciate birds, plants, animals, insects and immense trees, as well enjoy the sensation of liberty having a beautiful views of the San Carlos Valley as well as of the Arenal Volcano. The end of the walk will be in La Fortuna Waterfall, where we will descend again in order to arrive on the dot base of it and enjoy a beautiful natural landscape that makes it very special. After a refreshing swim we will return to La Fortuna town by car.

Practically the whole ride is done on private property going through first and second generation forests as well as some beautiful fields used for cattle raising and of course amazing views of the great Arenal Volcano that accompanies us along the whole way. The horse back ride lasts about 3 hours starting at the foot of the mountain and going up through secondary forest terrains and cattle fields as well as crossing through a beautiful primary forest area that takes us to a beautiful iris lagoon. Here our horses refresh themselves in order to continue the journey. Later, we ascend a little more and we begin to see the impressing view that is at our back. At this point we find a well for the horses to drink and we prepare for the final ascent.
The highest point and the point of return in our equine adventure is the look out point. Here we will be the closest to Arenal Volcano that is allowed. After enjoying this beautiful view, we return to our horses in order to start the descent down the mountain.
